Katrina helped save Finn McCool's football club
| Katrina helped save Finn McCool's football club |
The Finn McCool football club organized before Katrina, but hadn't gotten in a game before the storm hit.
After the storm the team bonded and has been very successful.
Here is a video on the team and its bond with the pub.

It all went by too fast. I can not believe it's over.
I am sure there are plenty women saying, "Finally, it's over!"
To that I say, the Premier League is around the corner!

Go USA Bid

Hey --
Thanks so much for your amazing support during our World Cup run.
I know we had a tough end to the tournament, but I'm proud of our guys and all the fans like you who stood behind us. Together, we took another big step forward for U.S. soccer.
But we still have work to do. The winning goal against Algeria was one of the greatest feelings I have ever experienced. I can only imagine how that goal would have felt if it had happened in the United States.
FIFA will announce its choice of hosts for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup tournaments on December 2nd. That gives us five months to make our case for why FIFA should pick the U.S.
So far, more than 764,000 people have signed the petition supporting our Bid. That's a ton of signatures, but we can go bigger.
Let's set our goal above and beyond one million!
One million signatures mean one million reasons for the U.S. to host the FIFA World Cup™. Help us reach our goal by spreading the word to everyone you know:
http://gousabid.com/onemillion
Our team and our fans -- both at home and in South Africa -- left it all out there on and off the field during the tournament. Let's put the same energy and dedication into our Bid to host the World Cup.
Thanks again for all your support.

Hot Water
After a dismal performance by a star-studded French tean, Raymond Domenech says it wasn't his fault. Their behavior on and off the field was like that of spoiled children. The team refused to practice, after Nicolas Anelka who was sent home for screaming at Domenech.
The Nigerian President Goodluck has suspended that national team for two years, due to its poor performance in the World Cup. They haven't won a match since 1998. FIFA might ban the team due to political interference.
Robin Van Persie was a little bothered when taken out of the game against Slovakia. He reacted by going off on coach Bert van Marwijk and said that Wesley Sneider should have been subbed out. So, coach calls a team pow-wow and demands unity. Why can't we all get along?
Another coach that claims it was not his fault why his team got KO'd, Fabio Capello. They got slayed by zee Germans, Tommy. He blames fatigue the main reason after a long season in England. David Villa, Sneider, Robben, Maicon, Milito, Lucio, Klose, etc. all think otherwise. Hmmm, I am going to need something better than that lame excuse.
Be Champions!

Italy's Soccer Training Camp
Good thing they can't fake winning the Group, because they are on their way home. Lippi should've never left out so many youngsters. He could've called up Mario Bolatelli, Giuseppe Rossi, Federico Macheda, etc. Those old stallions just don't have the spark. And you know its bad news when their best player on the field gets hurt early in the World Cup. Ehhhh ehhhm....Gianluigi Buffon.
To be honest, Italy was doomed as soon as they came out with those horrid uniforms. Looking like ultra-feather weight boxers. Those were not cool.
And Italians have style. Hahahaha. Right.
Ciao

Ronaldinho 09/10
Just a reminder of what we are missing out this World Cup. As I watched Kaka struggled against North Korea, I thought how great would it been if Ronaldinho came on the field.

PeliCAN T-Shirt
Threadless members Frederik Wepener and Ross Zietz have collaborated on PeliCAN, a tee design for a good cause: all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network.
As of this writing, there is still no end to be seen to the Gulf oil spill. And as we all watch the gallons of oil spilling into the water and onto land, we can't help but wonder what we can do to help. The result is this design, peliCAN, which is intended to add a bit of hope to an otherwise devastating situation.
Threadless is donating all proceeds from the sale of this tee to the Gulf Restoration Network, a 15 year old environmental non-profit organization committed to uniting and empowering people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf Region for future generations. They're the only environmental organization working Gulf-wide, and since the first days of BP's oil drilling disaster, they've provided independent monitoring and advocacy focused on holding BP accountable and ensuring an effective and transparent response to the crisis. Take action, stay informed, and donate to these efforts here.
"PeliCAN" may only make a small dent in the aid that goes to the Gulf Coast area, but they also hope it will keep public focus on one of the biggest ecological disasters of our time, and inspire others to help too. Both Ross and Frederik have donated their standard designer payment to the cause as well.
BP's oil drilling disaster continues to wreak havoc on coastal communities and the environment.
Let's get a T-Shirt!

Screamers, schoolboy errors & thrashings
As the World Cup kicks into matchday 4, there is already so much controversy only 3 days into. Some of it could be ignorance, some not. Mexico vs S. Africa was a good game that couldve use a few more goals. Regardless, I do not understand the call that ruled Carlos Vela offsides? We've argued all weekend. Yes, there is a ruling. Till that day, I had not heard about it or seen it enforced. Have I been in a hole? I does not make much sense, but Mexico has to live with it. France really does have issues. The scoreline proved that. I thought it was all talk. But when Anelka, Ribery, Gourcuff and Henry failed to looks dangerous on goal. Then they deserve to be second-fiddle to Diego Forlan. Who looked birlliant, at times. He deserved a goal. Is it time for Domenech to be fired? Who chooses to leave Trezeguet out of a team because of his horoscope sign. That's not weird.
As a Man Utd supporter, I am glad to see Park Ji-Sung scoring. If we can only get him to do that more often an Old Trafford. Great Goal. Greece looked liked a washed-up pub team. I need to look into becoming a citizen of Greece. So there is a chance to go pro. Argentina looked as dangerous as ever. Their counter-attacks looked like the Arsenal team with Henry and Bergkamp. The best player of that game was not someone from Argentina, surprisingly. Enyeama. If it wasn't for this man, the scoreline would've matched the Germany score. The saves he pulled out of his hAt, were amazing. Well done, man!
My initial thought when U.S. got scored on in the first minutes, was here we go. U.S. proved wrong. They stuck it out, and scrapped a goal at Robert Green's expense. All England thought they would be doing the Yankee Doodle on the U.S., instead it was a Yankee doodoo. What a: schoolboy error, blunder, humilitiating clanger, at least BP its not the only one leaking. Green needs to be axed. I'm sorry, he plays at West Ham United who barely survived the premier league. Hart is a far better keeper, with more to prove than Green. West Ham got scored on 66(4th from bottom) vs Birmingham's (9th place) 42. You be the judge.
Germany thrashed Australia. Sorry, Adrian. I know, my turn is coming up Wednesday morning at 7:30. Why is it that Podolski always checks in every World Cup? And what a screamer of a shot. That boy has got a rocket. His goal and S. Africa's Tshabalala were one of the nicest so far in my opinion. I must also add Heinze's diving header. Yes, he was unmarked. It had some fire behind it, though. Wow.
I wait for Honduras' opener vs Chile with much anticipation. And Group G!!!
Like Mortal Kombat, it's going to be, "Toasty!"

2010 World Cup South Africa
It is finally here. It is hard to believe that it has been four years since we last saw Italy lift the World Cup. I got chills after watching this promo.
So, I am making my predictions for Day 1 : Mexico and France will both be winners.
Mexico has more depth in their squad. Yeah, yeah, S. Africa is the host country, they will win. I beg to differ.
I am taking France over Uruguay, solely because of what they have on paper. I don't see Uruguay keeping up with this star-studded team.
